An Efficient Procedure for Removing Salt and Pepper Noise in Images

In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm for removing salt and pepper noise in images. The process of denoising is implemented two stages: detection followed by removal. For detection, extreme intensity values image are used to detect possible “noise pixels”. removal, the switching mechanism only selects pixels” processing avoid altering any fine details, identified noise-free pixels achieve better performance. Two filtering techniques, edge-preserving (EPF) extremum-compressing median (ECMF), employed EPF provides higher correlation between corrupted pixel neighborhood pixel, which gives rise edge preservation. ECMF can yield appropriate estimation selecting from current window. proposed tested on different images a restoration performance over some filters.
